Important Resources on Addiction, Recovery, and Family Resilience

Many families in Vermont are struggling to recover from the devastating effects of addiction to alcohol, heroin, methamphetamines and other drugs, just like some of the characters in We Contain Multitudes.  Addiction is a disease, not a personal failing, and there are many community resources that can help families struggling with the impact of this epidemic. 

Recovery Vermont has provided us with the following list of resources: 

VT Helplink
VT Helplink is a free resource for Vermonters, providing confidential, non-judgmental support and referrals to treatment, recovery, and other services.

Recovery Vermont   
Recovery Vermont celebrates substance use disorder recovery in Vermont through trainings, advocacy and leadership programs. Recovery Vermont trains Vermont’s recovery workforce and is home of the Vermont Recovery Coach Academy, Vermont’s Recovery Coach training program.

ADAP – Recovery Centers   
The Vermont Department of Health provides resources for those struggling with substance use disorder, including Vermont’s 12 Recovery Centers located throughout the state of Vermont.

Working Fields  
Working Fields is a mission-driven staffing agency that provides an opportunity for successful employment and recovery by empowering individuals to manage challenges due to substance use addiction and past convictions.

Jenna’s Promise   
Jenna’s Promise is a nonprofit organization dedicated to eliminating barriers to treatment and recovery services.

VFOR is a network of Recovery Residences (clean and sober living homes) to help people suffering from Substance Use Disorder to re-assimilate into society by supporting the transitions from active use, to recovery, to independent living.
