Veterans Book Groups

Our Veterans Book Groups create an opportunity for veterans to connect with each other, build relationships, read insightful materials, and share experiences. The group’s explorations will include books, poetry, articles, and short stories, with the goal of fostering camaraderie and a safe space to reflect and share ideas and questions.

Participants receive free copies of all readings, and a light dinner will be provided at each session. The groups are free, but pre-registration is required.

Veterans Book Groups are made possible with funding from the Ann H. Symington Foundation and the Two Green Angels Fund. We are pleased to be working in partnership with the VA Medical Center, the VA Women’s Comprehensive Care Center, the Veterans’ Place, Lyndon State College, and the VA Lakeside Clinic to host these groups.

“Having literature bring people together is incredibly powerful.”

Carey Russ has helped facilitate two Veterans Book Groups for women at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center. “The book groups have been by far the most popular programming we’ve done here,” she says.
