Humanities Camp: “I’m able to realize the skills that I never knew I had.”
Fourteen schools across Vermont held week-long Humanities Camps this summer, more than any previous year. At camp, students and teachers take off their “school year” hats and launch into activities and field experiences often not possible during a regimented school day. From this learning environment emerge insights, self-confidence, new skills, even new ways for young students to look at their lives.

“Humanities Camp is opening me and I’m able to realize the skills that I never knew I had,” wrote one St. Albans City School camper. That is what camp is — an opening, a self-discovery. It’s why the Humanities Camps program—made possible by caring teachers and generous funders—endures year after year as one of the shining lights of our work.
