Vermont Reads Book Discussion: The Most Costly Journey

Live Event
August 2, 2022: 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

The cover of The Most Costly Journey bookThis year’s Vermont Reads selection is The Most Costly Journey, edited by Marek Bennett, Andy Kolovos, and Teresa Mares, which tells the stories of migrant workers on Vermont farms, illustrated by leading cartoon artists.

Join Learning Lab instructor Ron Miller and community educator Jackie Fischer for a two-part conversation about this eye-opening and poignant account of the dreams and challenges of the people who do so much of the work essential to Vermont agriculture.

We’ll discuss participants’ reactions to the book, reflect on the immigration experience in our own family histories, and gain more insights from a conversation with folks from the organization Migrant Justice.

Thanks to a grant from Vermont Humanities multiple copies will be available to borrow.

Please email programs@normanwilliams.org to register or for more information.
