Brownell Library
Diverse group of young marchers in city with "All Power to the People" banner

People gather in public spaces for many reasons, including expressing pride in their community, celebrating major milestones, and protesting. Jay Wahl, executive director of the Flynn, considers how the arts can rewrite the cultural memory of public spaces and help overcome barriers of access and equity.

Jay Wahl joined the Flynn in January 2021 from the Kimmel Center, an inclusive organization that engages Philadelphia’s diverse communities through the arts. He looks forward to working with Vermont communities to understand how cultural practices here can increase dialogue and connection among those who make this their home.
