Ray Vega and his quartet will present a musical program demonstrating the elements of Jazz. The ensemble will address the ever changing styles of the music from the Blues to Ragtime to Traditional to Swing to Bebop and beyond. Vega and the members of his ensemble will participate in a question and answer session at the end of their presentation.

About the Presenter
A native of the South Bronx, Ray Vega is a veteran of the bands of Tito Puente, Ray Barretto, Mongo Santamaria, Mario Bauza, Hector LaVoe, Johnny Pacheco and Larry Harlow to name a few. Ray has performed and/or recorded with Nicholas Payton, Joe Henderson, John Santos, Lionel Hampton, Mel Torme, The Spanish Harlem Orchestra, Paquito D’Rivera, The Chico O’Farrill Afro-Cuban Jazz Orchestra, Jazz@Lincoln Center Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, Celia Cruz, Paul Simon, Diane Schuur, Jeannie Bryson, The Caribbean Jazz Project, Pete Escovedo/Sheila E, Michel Camilo, Eddie Palmieri, and Poncho Sanchez. Ray has established himself as one of the innovators of the international Jazz and Latin music scenes. A multi-talented trumpeter, percussionist, composer, arranger and educator, he presents Jazz from a refreshingly original and contemporary perspective.
