The Book of Mormon is arguably the most significant book published in the United States during the nineteenth century. First printed in 1830, the book formed the basis for what would become the most successful homegrown US religion. The Book of Mormon sparked a mass American migration, and its many narratives of ancient migrations reveal what it means to leave one homeland in search of another.
