Please note: This talk is part of our 2016 Fall Conference. You must have registered for the conference to attend this event.

The questions at the heart of the Iliad concern the challenges of military leadership. When does one defy a commander in chief? What is it like to take orders from someone who has a radically different philosophy from yours? What does one owe one’s comrades?

Caroline Alexander, translator of the critically acclaimed translation of the Iliad, and Elizabeth D. Samet, editor of Leadership: Essential Writings by Our Greatest Thinkers, will explore together the challenges of military leadership and the costs of war.

Led by: Caroline Alexander and Elizabeth Samet
