Mad Men and Mad Women: The Construction of Gender in Mid-Century America

Using AMC’s TV series Mad Men as an introduction, Middlebury professor Joyce Mao examines the Cold War foundations of gender in the US at the dawn of the 1960s, when the federal government and corporate America indelibly shaped middle-class masculinity and femininity.
