Please note: This talk is part of our Fall Conference 2017. You must have registered for the conference to attend this event.

Dystopian novels like 1984, The Handmaid’s Tale, and The Circle never predict the future perfectly. However, these stories reveal possible futures that might unfold from the present. This session will examine dystopian fiction to explore how technology changes what it means to be human, including, perhaps changing the way we love. We will think about our current moment in the long history of technogenesis—the idea that humans have always coevolved with their tools.
