Reuben Jackson, former host of VPR’s Friday Night Jazz, explores Duke Ellington compositions that spotlight the jazz legend’s growth as an arranger and composer. Jackson plays and discusses arresting yet accessible movements from extended works like The Far East Suite.

Reuben Jackson is Archivist with the University of The District of Columbia’s Felix E. Grant Jazz Archives. From 1989 until 2009, he was Archivist and Curator with the Smithsonian Institution’s Duke Ellington Collection. He was host of Vermont Public Radio’s Friday Night Jazz from August 2012 until April 2018.
