Details Meet Creativity in Writing

Red fountain pen on off white paperHistorical, scientific, and cultural facts—along with data and perceptions—inform any kind of writing and help to place a story in context. Whether composing a family memoir, town history, travelogue, or a novel set in a particular time and place, writers often struggle with how much detail to weave into their works without weighing down the story.

In this program, author Yvonne Daley shares examples of how successful writers interlace historical, scientific, and societal details into their works. She’ll also explore strategies for doing so in participants’ projects, whether for personal use or to share with others.
