Caroline Alexander

Image of Caroline AlexanderCaroline Alexander was born in Florida of British parents and has lived in Europe, Africa, and the Caribbean. She studied at Oxford as a Rhodes scholar and earned a doctorate in classics from Columbia University.

She has written for The New Yorker and National Geographic Magazine, among other publications, and is the author of numerous books, including Mrs. Chippy’s Last Expedition, the journal of the Endurance’s resident cat; The Bounty: The True Story of the Mutiny on the Bounty; a new and critically acclaimed translation of the Iliad; and The Endurance: Shackleton’s Legendary Antarctic Expedition.
