The Vermont Humanities Council has named Joyce Yoo Babbitt, Librarian of the Browns River Middle School in Jericho, as its 2016 humanities educator of the year.
The Vermont Humanities Council’s First Wednesdays lecture series kicks off its fifteenth season October 5 at nine sites statewide with a slate of renowned scholars, including Pulitzer Prize-winning author Isabel Wilkerson, former US Poet Laureate Billy Collins, NPR’s Marketplace Morning Report host David Brancaccio, Vermont author Katherine Paterson, and acclaimed Civil War historian David Blight.
The Vermont Humanities Council’s Veteran Book Groups program returns to the Burlington area with two groups beginning later this summer.
The Vermont Humanities Council has received $30,000 from an anonymous donor to support VHC’s summer Humanities Camps program for middle-school students.
The VHC grant will support curriculum development and content delivery to create a common humanities thread within renowned arts, humanities, and STEM programming.
Humanities Camps will be held in Brattleboro, Burlington, East Corinth, Fair Haven, Irasburg, Northfield, Richford, Springfield, St. Albans, Stowe, Williamstown, and Windsor in the summer of 2016.
