OCTOBER 3 ~ Stark Decency: German POWs in a New England Village. Dr. Allen Koop tells the story of Camp Stark, New Hampshire's only World War II prisoner-of-war camp. Koop describes how ordinary people in the village of Stark allowed human decency to turn the bitter division of war into camaraderie. Location: Stanstead College, Stanstead, Quebec

 

NOVEMBER 7 ~ Alexander Hamilton's Blessing. Inventor of the corporation, Wall Street, and author of America's first law book, Alexander Hamilton was also an immigrant, an orphan, and a college dropout. Retired Bishop’s University Professor Joanne Craig considers how Elizabeth not only survived, but also led her country through the great era now known as the Elizabethan age. FEBRUARY 6 ~ Going to War in Shakespeare: Olivier, Branagh, and Henry V. Using clips from the film versions of Henry V by Laurence Olivier (1944) and Kenneth Branagh (1989), Dartmouth College Professor Peter Saccio explores the richness of Shakespeare and the ways in which this play has spoken to our own times. MARCH 5 ~ The Great Debate: Is It Time For A Second Vermont Republic? UVM Professor Frank Bryan and former Deputy Secretary of State Paul Gillies debate whether the time has come for a Second Republic of Vermont. APRIL 2 ~ Death and Glory: Sports in Ancient Greece and Rome.

MAY 7 ~ The Regeneration of an Artist: Frank Lloyd Wright After 1932. At the age of 65, Frank Lloyd Wright began the Taliesin Fellowship and the most productive decades of his life. H.
