First Wednesdays

“Sharing Our Past — Shaping Our Future” Since 1974

First Wednesdays, a diverse lecture series, draws large audiences. This once-a-month humanities forum brings nationally and regionally renowned speakers to libraries for public lectures on the First Wednesday of each month, October through May.

Topics as varied as World War II, climate change, “Spanglish,” the Founding Fathers and early America, Robert Frost, the ancient Greeks and Romans, stories from the Northeast Kingdom, and King Arthur make First Wednesdays appealing to all.

For the 2007-2008 season VHC welcomes Manchester as its seventh First Wednesdays venue. Manchester joins the existing locations of  Brattleboro, Burlington, Middlebury, Montpelier,
St. Johnsbury, and Newport/Stanstead, Québec.
